The new year is always "THE YEAR". Every year for as long as I can remember I make big resolutions. The typical get out of debt, save money, loose weight, clean, organize, go to church every Sunday on time, basically be perfect in every way. How great life will be in this dream world of mine not to mention how fab I will look. I start out with the best of intentions and it usually doesnt take long for it all to fall apart.
Not this year. Im just trying to make LITTLE changes and improvements, nothing major. I m not setting myself up for failure Im just going to be happy and constantly trying to improve in all area s of life.
Perhaps you ve noticed my lack of apostrophe usage in this post. That s because every time I push that key it brings up a weird thing at the bottom of my screen and screws up my post. This brings me to realize another thing that I need to work on, not letting LITTLE things get to me. Right now I am resisting the urge to close my lap top softly then slam it on the ground repeatedly and beat the hell out of it.
Here s to the LITTLE things, that truly do make the biggest difference. Hopefully, by the end of this year I will be a little bit better person.
Try a little harder to be a little better, right?

January 2010
Eliott was here for a long weekend. We loved having him here and Jaiden still talks about how funny E is. And we all miss him.
I'm so busy. The kids are bored and sick of being stuck inside (me too). I had a nice weekend trip to Georgia to see my family, of course that will need it's very own post.
Kyle went on a few trips and had a blast.
That's our January in a nut shell.

Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve first of all we went to see mama Whit then, we had dinner at Shirley's house with Shirley, Bonnie, Carrie and all the kids. We exchanged and opened gifts from the people we had drawn names for in my mom's family. I forgot my camera so I have no pictures.
Then, we headed home and let the kids open the gifts we got them and their Christmas jammies. I hadn't wrapped them so I grabbed what I had handy and that's what I put them in. Kyle loved Jaiden's giant Victoria Secret bag.
Kyle surprised me with a new (much needed) camera. It was one of those "you shouldn't have.....but SO GLAD you did" moments. I'm still trying to figure out everything on it, which explains some of the blurry pictures on Christmas day.

BATBOY
Treyce got a hold of the camera and made the following video of himself. I came across it when I was uploading the pictures of he and Bentley on the previous posts.
I'm amazed how well he does the evil laugh at the end. I LOVE IT!!
(It's 1 min. long)

Latest on Bentley
Bentley HATES having her picture taken. If she see's me with a camera in hand she usually screams "NO!" and turns her head or drops face down on the floor in the fetal position. Last week I gave her a new long sleeve leotard to wear to dance class. She LOVED it. I took a picture and she actually let me. Then, she started striking poses, my crappy camera couldn't keep up with her. I couldn't believe it. She was so excited to go to dance that day, she normally has a hard time.
On Monday we had our Christmas party in preschool. When the kids get to school they have to find their name tag, then answer the question of the day by putting their name tag under their answer. Because of Christmas the question was "have you been naughty or nice?". Of course as each kid heard the question they answered "nice". When it was Bentley's turn she said with absolute certainty "Oh I've been naughty".

Christmas Party
November 30th we had a Christmas party with the Draney, Moon and Cox families. It was Corby & Shawn's birthday as well.
It's always good to get the families together. Santa even paid a visit. The kids had a blast. It's always good to hang out with friends.

I Don't Mind Hitting Bottom, I Just Hate Dragging
My dad's book is here at last!!
I received my copy yesterday and read it cover to cover in a few hours, it is co-written by Kyle Whelliston. My dad and Kyle met in 2006 when Kyle wrote this article for ESPN.com. The forewards were written by Stephen Covey and Hubie Brown.
The book touches on some of my dad's experiences from being born with a face deformity, growing up in the housing projects and being beat by his dad for not quitting school. He covers the highlights and low lights of his basketball career as a player and later as a coach. He also talks about the lowest point, the 1996-1997 basketball season at Brigham Young University. I was a little surprised by the insight that he put in the book. He mentioned a few things that happened at BYU that I haven't heard him talk about before, other than to family and close friends. I'm glad he did include it in the book because it is what happened.
I remember after that experience he used to say, "they can take my job but they can't take my dream". Three LONG years later Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw Georgia gave the man with a dream, the job. Four years after that the dream came true with a Division II national championship win.
In the book he talks about the "cartwheel play". Any coach that runs a cartwheel play during a basketball game has to have a good sense of humor, right? My dad is known for his sense of humor. But I think some people have made the mistake of not taking him seriously, especially when it comes to basketball.
Knowing first hand the life and background my father comes from, it is truly amazing all the things he has accomplished. I have to say with out my mom he wouldn't be the person he is today, but that's another book for another day.
This is a great book for anyone who has ever cheered for the underdog, likes sports or faced adversity in life.
